Skiing in the sunshine!

I love Upper Moutere! The weather is fantastic, the people are wonderful, we are only 2 minutes from lovely wineries, 15 minutes from
some great beaches and yet only an hour and a half from the Ski Fields! As the glorious spring weather unfolded after a chilling
winter it was an opportune time to hit the mountains and go skiing! We
rugged up in our winter woolies (which soon proved unnecessary) and drove up to Rainbow ski-field - thankfully Max slept the entire journey!

Mum and Dad graciously took turns minding Max so that I could have a
decent day skiing. It was fantastic! The weather was unbelievable - some brave Kiwis were skiing and snowboarding in tank tops and t-
shirts! There was not a cloud in the sky and the snow was still deep
enough to be soft the whole day without getting icy.

Dad and I enjoyed finding different slopes to conquer and even saw a Para-skier flying/
skiing down the East Face! We also trekked to the West bowl to ski around a frozen tarn but first stopped to check out the view from the
ridgeline! The view over Lake Rotoiti and the mountains beyond is spectacular!

We borrowed snow gear and a toboggan for Max, however, he refused to keep on his mittens while he picked up handfuls of snow so it was
easier to keep him in the cafe playing with toys and other toddlers!
