All Four Grandparents!

Not only have we been spoiled to have Brooke's parents in town for a month, Grant's parents visited us for 3 days so they could meet their 5th grandbaby! Here are some pics of Max's time with four loving grandparents from April 17th to 19th.

Introducing Max!

We are pleased to announce that our son, Maxwell Leigh Norsworthy, was born at 9:05 am on Saturday April 14th 2007 - his due date! He weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces (3.4 kg) and was 21 inches (52.5 cm) long.

Max is named after both his grandfathers. Maxwell (Grant’s dad’s first name) means “from the great well”. Coincidentally Maxwell is also the name of 2 of his great grandfathers. Leigh (named after Brooke’s dad) means “meadow” or “peaceful place”.

If you're interested in hearing about the birth feel free to email Brooke. Here are just a few details and photos of Max's first few hours...

Our labor was quite long - 26 hours. Contractions began at 7:30 am on Friday morning. At about 6 pm we went out for pizza and to distract ourselves! Brooke's parents, Leigh and Jenny, were in town from New Zealand. Here's a photo taken between contractions.

Max arrived on Saturday morning! We had kept the gender a surprise. Grant caught Max as he was born and announced the birth of our son.

We had a fantastic birthing team! Linda (left) was the midwife on call and Lisa (right) was our nurse. They both spurred us on and completely supported our plan for a natural birth.

Day 2: Enjoying our little guy!

Max's had his first ride in the car seat as we drove home on Monday afternoon. We found a welcome home sign for Max on the door and an eager cat (Princess Buttercup) waiting to meet her successor!

To complete the welcome home party, champagne to toast our new arrival!
