Spring Hill: Rock Daddies, Rock Babies

Ah yes, besides all the play and fun in the sun there was a point to us being at Spring Hill Camp. Grant joined Aussie band Alabaster Box to play for the kids and leaders. Brett and Narrah's 5-month-old, Mitchell, was there, too.

Rock Daddies and rock babies! Brett with Mitch; Grant with Max.

Max seems to be much more interested in the drums than bass guitar,
much to Grant's chagrin!

Spring Hill: Horse Trek!

Day 5 at Spring Hill Camp... and I got to go on a horse trek while
Grant watched Max! That's me on "Red" and Naarah on "Chief". The
woods were beautiful and the horses were gorgeous!

Spring Hill: The Splash Park!

Still having a great time at Spring Hill Camp here in Michigan! We
wandered over to "Story Brook" - the section of the camp for the
youngest kids - where the activities and buildings were quite
fantastical and thematic. We took Max to the splash park on a hot
day. The splash park, right beside the lake, was modeled on the movie
"A bug's life" - giant reeds and flowers sprayed us and cooled us
down in no time! Max spent most of the day carrying a hard-boiled egg
(convinced it was a ball) which inevitably met it's end in the park
and made a smelly mess. Ick.

Spring Hill: The Zip Line!

On Day 2 at Spring Hill Camp we rode the "Zip-Line"! It's like a
flying fox but harnessed in instead of hanging on for your life.

Josh and Brett and set to go...

Here come the boys!

Spring Hill: The petting farm

Max LOVES animals! He can point out over 20 animals that we name in
books, say the names of a few, make the sounds of a few others and
"sign" a few more! Spring Hill Camp has a petting farm and Max was
VERY excited to see a few of his favourite animals in the flesh! We
saw pigs, goats, donkeys, llama and, a favourite... horses! He kept
doing the sign for "horse" (you can see him curling his index finger
in the last photo) and mimicking their sounds.

Spring Hill Camp, Michigan

The Norsworthys are spending two weeks up in the North Eastern USA,
touring with Aussie band, "Alabaster Box". After a 14 hour drive we
arrived at Spring Hill Camp in Michigan. The camp is incredible - set
in 900 acres of woods and lakes, there are 3 different "zones" for
different age groups of kids. Our primary role was to be with, play
to and encourage the kids in New Frontier - grades 9-12. Apparently there were 1800 kids around but we only ever saw a few hundred at a time, assuming that they were staggered into activity groups, etc. In between concerts and meals we joined in a few of the activites: horse trekking, rock climbing, shooting, paintball and the zip-line. Here are a few pics and there will be more to follow in the next posts!
